It was clad in full armor, dark and gleaming, with an aura of menace that made my skin crawl. Its skull burned with purple flames that flickered unnaturally, casting eerie shadows across the room. In its hand rested a claymore, nearly as tall as I was. The blade seemed to hum with latent energy, and its surface etched with sigils pulsed with a malevolent glow.

It didn’t move. It simply sat there, watching me.

I didn’t need anyone to explain what was expected of me. The towering monster was the final guardian, and if I wanted to clear the Tower of Beginnings, I had to defeat it.

I took a deep breath and steadied my nerves. This wasn’t going to be easy.

I quickly went through my options. Hellfire was out—it wouldn’t do much against a creature whose skull was literally ablaze. That left Magnet and Absolute Zero as my main options. I also had the reflections, but their usual strategies wouldn’t hold up against something this powerful.

Sravenna’s Madora Stump and Salak’s Frost Domain were helpful in a fight against weaker opponents, but this wasn’t a weak opponent. It was a singular, towering force of destruction. Still, they could help distract it.

“Sravenna. Salak.” I called out.

They materialized beside me, and their forms instantly solidified into combat stances. Sravenna materialized a wooden shield and blade, while Salak crafted his weapons from shimmering ice.

As I approached, the death knight stood from its throne.

It didn’t rush. It didn’t roar or charge. It simply stood. Its movements were deliberate and terrifyingly precise. As it stepped down from the throne, the ground quaked beneath its weight. Up close, it was even larger than I’d imagined, towering well over two meters. The faint, glowing purple flame flickering from its skull was almost hypnotic, and I had to force myself to snap out of it.

“Get ready,” I murmured, though it felt pointless. Sravenna and Salak had already raised their shields, standing their ground like they always did.

But then it happened.

The Death Knight’s aura exploded outward like a bomb going off, an invisible wave of crushing energy that hit harder than anything I’d felt before. Both shields shattered instantly—wood splintering and ice crumbling into nothing. Sravenna and Salak didn’t even have time to counterattack before they were gone, their forms breaking apart like glass.

“So strong,” I muttered, clenching my fists as my gaze locked onto the creature. It hadn’t even swung its weapon, yet its sheer presence alone had shattered the reflections, leaving them to dissolve into the ether.

The knight took a step forward, and the ground trembled under its weight. Without wasting a second, I resummoned Sravenna and Salak. This time, they appeared farther from me, reforming their shields just as the death knight raised its massive blade.

Crash!

The claymore slammed down with brutal force, cleaving straight through their shields like they were paper. Both reflections shattered again, and their forms vanished in a flash.

“Tsk.” I clicked my tongue, frustration bubbling up. They weren’t going to hold up against this thing.

“Magnetic Push!”

I thrust my palm forward, sending a wave of flux barreling toward the death knight.
