Outer Reaches of the Planet

Sparks fly from the breach kit, illuminating the darkened corridor of the Transgressor’s hull. With each precise cut, the breach kit carves another hole, tearing through the metal as if it were mere fabric. It isn’t even necessary, seeing that the long, ragged gash created by the explosives served its purpose. But by doing this, we avoid a perilous space walk and the potential danger of our suits being torn open by the compromised superstructure.

My eyes dart to Amiyah’s pack, which contains four more explosives. The fate of our mission hangs in the balance as we venture deeper into the heart of the enemy’s lair. The pulsating hum of the alien machinery reverberates through the air, sending shivers down my spine. Time is running out, and the weight of our mission rests heavily on my shoulders. Amiyah stands beside me, her eyes gleaming with determination as she tells each of us the precise instructions on how to remotely activate the bombs through the heads-up displays embedded within our helmets. It’s a precautionary measure in case we find ourselves separated from her or the detonator. If the Trappers’ jamming system remains offline, it should work.

In the dimly lit room, I feel a surge of resolve as I roll my shoulders, preparing myself for the impending battle. Meanwhile, Luke shuffles his feet nervously, his mind seemingly racing with thoughts of what lies ahead.

As the sensors hum with anticipation, we find ourselves at the precipice of discovery. This very location, meticulously calculated to be the closest to Newton’s position, holds the key. Yet, before us lies a labyrinth of decks, each one a stepping stone towards our goal. My mind races as I envision what lies in wait within the depths of the ship. And that isn’t such a hard task. Sections that are closest to the hull would be infested with Scuttlers. The mission ahead is not for the faint of heart, but I have the resolve to see it through.

But they cannot survive in the cold, unforgiving vacuum of space. Or could they? When we breached the enemy ship the first time, we discovered a whole compartment of lifeless Scuttlers. And we assumed that a loss of pressure caused their demise. Perhaps, hidden amidst the celestial tapestry, lies a deeper truth, waiting to be unraveled.

My gut churns, my heart pounding in my chest as I tighten my grip on the sleek, futuristic rifle. My gloved fingers hover just above the trigger, ready to unleash a storm of energy.

Amiyah’s voice reverberates through the control room as she utters the words, “Air check.” The atmosphere is tense, as the fate of our crew and our mission hangs in the balance.

Luke’s voice resonates through the control room, filled with a sense of urgency. “Twenty-seven minutes and four seconds, counting down,” he declares. The room falls into a hushed silence as everyone braces themselves for what lies ahead.
