The boy was still beautiful, even more so than the day he had found him. Sunset colors barely rivaled that fire-gold hair, though it striated those violet eyes with reflections of a dying day. The short tunic his captive was wearing had slipped off one shoulder, displaying the perfect musculature of youth that also proclaimed itself in hard legs and arms that might have been fashioned by the finest sculptor of Sitsuh. He had looked so good that Melkor had wanted to devour him—throw him down upon the ledge like prey and begin the feast.

Instead, he had warned him not to move, not to fall. In that moment when their eyes had met, seeing Rimmon so forlorn, so lost and accepting of having been left to die, he had known the truth of his feelings. The Akeled prince was different from his other dalliances. When Melkor looked into those eyes, his heart beat faster and his blood ran hotter. He wanted to protect this beautiful creature—and his eagle too. He wanted to protect him, understand him, seduce him, and claim him with a passion at once primal and utterly selfless. He stood poised on the edge of a precipice, awaiting wings.

Though he easily could have taken him here on the stones of the terrace, upon the carpet that had borne them down from the crags, Melkor lifted the young man to his feet, kissing him until they were both breathless, tugging the tunic over his head, drawing him toward the bedchamber. Just inside the shelter of the columns leading within, he crushed Rimmon against the nearest pillar. He plundered that mouth, tongue sweeping teeth and lips, encountering only hunger and welcome. For several minutes he kissed him so, and he was thrilled to feel his lover’s hard cock press like an iron rod against his hip.

“Down,” he commanded. He guided Rimmon down onto the fine, dense carpet at the pillar’s base and together they stretched out on the floor, bodies arching for contact. Melkor clawed at the blood-red cord about his waist, worked it free, and passed it around the column. Pushing Rimmon’s arms above his head, he placed the ends of the sash into the young man’s hands. “Hold this,” he ordered. “Do not let go unless you want me to stop. If you release the cord, I will cease.”

His Akel gazed at him from beneath lowered lashes, his lips open and soft as he tugged the cord tightly with each hand, his grip unhesitating. He moved only to lift his hips slightly when his loincloth was removed.
