38. Research Freeze Dried vs. Dehydrated

When creating your food supply, you are going to have two different options available to you with regards to preserved food. We recommend you try both and keep both freeze dried and dehydrated foods in your supply. Both have their pros and cons but you should always try each type of food before making a bulk purchase.

Freeze Dried Food

Freeze dried foods are generally more expensive than dehydrated foods. Freeze dried foods will give you more varied options with such favorites as ice cream sandwiches. Freeze dried foods also are very fragile and have a tendency to crumble. Items will last for 10+ years and most are tasty and quite enjoyable. Freeze dried foods are not as nutritious as their counterparts, and may lose additional nutrition when they are cooked.
