Chapter 16
I pulled up in front of my house about seven minutes later. I got out of the van and armed myself with a pistol that I put in the back of my pants. Then I started up my yard and went in my front door.
âHello Sam,â a familiar voice said, âDid you make a choice yet?â
I turned to see a man looking at me. I shut the door behind me and faced him.
âDo I know you?â I asked.
âWe talked at the beach,â he said, âMy name is Jonas.â
I nodded and looked around, âWhere is he?â
âWho?â Jonas asked.
âJoey's brother.â I said.
He nodded and waved for me to follow him. He walked up the stairs and went into my room. In the middle of the room was Josh, Joey's brother, tied to a chair with his mouth taped up. He looked at me and knit his eyes. Surrounding him were four other guys who all had silenced pistols in their hands.
âI'd like you to meet my team.â Jonas smiled.
I looked among them and nodded.
âI'll take this.â Jonas snatched the pistol that was in the back of my pants.
âWhat are their names?â I asked nodding to his team.
He pointed to each of them, âTravis, Paul, Andrew, and Gage.â
âGage, are you related to a Vern Matthews?â I asked knitting my eyes.
âWhy does everyone keep asking me that?â he complained, âNo, I am not.â
I nodded and turned to Jonas, âWhat do you want?â
âWe were hired to eliminate The Crew. And you just became our leverage.â he raised the gun to my head.
I nodded and looked at Josh, âAnd what about him?â
âWe don't need him anymore.â he informed.
âYou're going to kill him?â I raised my voice.
âSomething like that.â he said.
I nodded and looked around the room. There was a picture of Justice on the night stand. I smiled and looked up at Jonas then went to Josh to untie him.
âWhat are you doing?â Jonas asked.
âIf I'm your leverage, then you can't kill me.â I pointed out as I untied Josh.
Jonas's team raised their weapons to us as Josh stood up and took the tape off his mouth.
âYou shoot him, I'm going to make you shoot me. Therefore, you have no leverage. You follow?â I looked at him, âHe goes free. And I will be your leverage, deal?â
âHe goes free and the first person he calls is his brother.â Jonas said.
âThen we better leave, huh?â I looked at him.
Jonas studied me then looked to his team, âLower your weapons. Let him go.â
I handed Josh the keys to the van, âTake the van on the side of the house.â
He thanked me then walked out of the room and down the stairs. Jonas then raised his pistol to me.
âLets get out of here.â he suggested.
One of his team members grabbed me by the shirt and pulled me out of the room. Once we were out of the room they all aimed their pistols at me and made me walk down the stairs. We went out of the door and got into two different cars that were parked out front then drove off.
