Buzzing open the gates, a tight knot forms in my stomach. Waiting for Belle has had me worried all day and I had no idea what time sheâd be here. âCan I come over tonight?â she asked me after servicing my pool this morning. It can only mean one thing: she doesnât want me as her client anymore, not in any capacity. She had an apprentice with her and neither of us knew how to behave with the young man around, so we ignored each other mostly.
Itâs clear that sheâs busy arranging her replacement so she wonât have to come back and I donât blame her. Iâm paying her to look after the pool, and Iâve been paying her for sex. Thereâs something very wrong about that and I wonât deny that itâs been bugging me all along. I donât want her to think of me as some spoilt rich woman who thinks she can get anything she wants as long as she throws enough money at it.
When I open the door, I curse the anxiety twisting in my stomach. I know itâs stupid to fall in love with an escort. Itâs foolish and reckless and naïve, and still, it doesnât stop me from wanting her all the time, from dreaming of having some sort of relationship with her. My need to be with her is so strong that Iâd take anything at this point. Anything.
âHi,â I say, letting her in. âI expected you earlier. Are you not seeing someone tonight?â
âNo, I cancelled.â
âOh.â I head to the fridge and pour two glasses of wine. She looks serious and if she wants to talk, I need one.
âNo thank you,â she says when I offer her a glass. âI drove.â
I nod, suspecting she wants to get this over with quickly. âI know what youâre going to tell me.â
âDo you?â When Belle steps toward me, I suppress a moan at her closeness.
âYeah. I wonât book you again.â I say simply, pretending this isnât hurting me. Kissing her is all I can think of but I refrain. âNo hard feelings, I promise.â
âThank you, thatâs probably for the best. I ehm⦠I wanted to say Iâm sorry if Iâve hurt you or upset you.â Her voice is low and croaky, and a little emotional, if Iâm not mistaken.
âDonât worry about me, Iâm fine.â The brave smile I put on is only half-hearted. âAnd Iâm sorry if I got too close.â We linger in silence, ignoring the roaring charge between us. I look at her, she looks at me, and I can almost feel her internal struggle. Iâm waiting for her to turn around and leave but instead, Belle reaches out to trace my cheek, her shifting expression shocking me. Itâs not the look of regret or pity. Iâve seen that look before, in bed.
âWhat are you doing?â I whisper when she leans in, backing me up against the kitchen counter. I feel her abdomen against mine, her breasts against my chest.
âI have no idea.
