Lily and I got off the train at my stop and made our way up the stairs and out of the station.

Lily looked up at the sky through the windows of the station. “Seriously what the hell is up with the moon? Three nights in a row it’s been like that?”

“I guess blue moons are a real phenomenon,” I said. “I always thought it was just some old cliché.”

“Oh no, it’s a real thing,” she said as we stepped out onto the street. “Trust me, I know all about them.”

“Figured you would,” I snickered.

“Anyways, how far is your apartment from here? This must be a scary walk all by yourself at night. Especially under a scary moon like that.”

“Right down the street,” I said. “You can almost see my building from here.”

“That’s convenient. The suburbs are so quiet and dark and spooky at night.” She reached for my hand and clutched it tight. “I actually feel safer in the city.”

“Me too,” I said. “Sometimes. But we’ll be at my place in a few minutes. I’ve made this walk many times, and always without incident.”

“Hopefully you’ll be able to protect me from any scary monsters that might be hiding in the bushes. Or vampire goth girls.”

“Vampire goth girls would be more than welcome,” I laughed. “But there are no monsters around here that I know of.”

“I bet you’re a monster in the sheets.”

“Maybe. Maybe not. We’ll see. Do you always deliver such hot, steamy, seductive lines to potential suitors?”

“Yeah,” giggled Lily. “It’s all part of my game. Works every time.”

“Okay then,” I said as we arrived at my front stairs. “Here we are.”

I opened my mailbox and retrieved the pile of meaningless junk mail and bills that were waiting for me, then led Lily up the stairs and welcomed her into my apartment.

She was on me as soon as I closed the front door.

“Finally,” she said as she threw her arms around me, standing up on her tippy toes to kiss me. I was reaching for the light switch with one with one hand and clutching her close to me with the other.

After turning the light on I returned the embrace with both arms, clutching at the fabric of her hoodie and taking in her conglomeration of girly scents that was making me go crazy. My hands reached underneath her hoodie, feeling the warm, soft skin of her back.

“Yikes!” she shrieked. “Your hands are cold.”

“Sorry,” I laughed, bringing them back out and feeling her hoodie again.

“Believe me, you’re more than welcome to what’s under there. I think I’ve made that pretty clear whether you’ve noticed or not. Let’s just warm up a little first. Under the covers, you know?”

We continued kissing and groping for a moment until were suddenly interrupted by a series of angry meows.

Lily pulled away and crouched down to greet Luna.

“Luna!” she cried out as the cat graciously accepted some head scratches. “So nice to finally meet you. Your human and I are going to spend some time together tonight.
