MONOCULTURE

Representative Organizations

Societies around the world must adapt as media, technology, and immigration create a global Monoculture. Liberalized economies, individualism, feminism, and a global youth culture all have positive effects, but they also present deep problems. Below are four ministries that recognize Monoculture and equip believers to be salt and light—winsome, distinctive, and positive.

1. Crown Financial Ministries: Since 1976, Crown Financial Ministries (CFM) has equipped people to learn, apply, and teach biblical financial principles. An interdenominational ministry, CFM has taught or equipped more than 50 million people in over eighty nations with the life-transforming message of faithfully living by God’s financial principles in every area of their lives. 2. Damaris Project: The Damaris Project was founded in 1997 to help women convene and converse about femininity and spirituality. Lilian Calles Barger, the Damaris Project’s founder, wrote the book Eve’s Revenge: Women and a Spirituality of the Body to address the disconnect between women’s bodies and souls in today’s media-soaked culture. The Damaris Project is a bare-bones group based in Dallas, Texas, and is run completely by volunteers, with 95 percent of its funding coming from small donations, often online. 3. Integra Russia: Two Slovakian business partners founded Integra in 1995 with a vision to encourage the establishment of businesses based on integrity. Integra provides training and other forms of support in Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria, Russia, Croatia, Serbia, Kenya, Sudan, and the United States. (http://integrarussia.ru/en/index.htm)

4. To Write Love on Her Arms: Begun in 2006 as a MySpace page, TWLOHA is a nonprofit that uses the Internet to encourage people who are victims of depression, addiction, or self-injury or who are contemplating suicide to seek help and embrace hope. TWLOHA’s Web site has a twofold purpose: to serve as a bridge to telephone help lines and to answer posted messages from people around the world. In its first two years, TWLOHA responded to over eighty thousand online messages in forty countries. (www.twloha.com)
