As Knoll approached Gibbs, the big man asked, “Did you get it?”

“Already in Sean’s hands and on its way to Charlie.”

“Good.” He returned his attention to the crowd. “We need to mingle a while longer. I don’t think we’ll hear anything additional from the senator’s goons, but you never know.”

“Do you think they suspect anything?”

“I don’t see how. Their eyes were focused on me the whole time. I doubt they even saw you.”

“Well, it would be hard to prove anything since the device isn’t even on the premises.”

Knoll turned to survey the crowd. “I saw a general I need to follow up with. What are you gonna do?”

“Stay away from the woman who’s trying to get me into bed.”

With a chuckle, Knoll said, “Then come with me.” They both headed toward a group of officers.
