It took two solid kicks to break open the flimsy lock, allowing Blessing to push open the door. The room was in complete darkness, so he called out softly, ‘Dimas, are you in here?’

‘Hau Blessing, what took you so long?’ came the reply.

‘I thought being in jail would do you some good; perhaps make you less cheeky, but I see it did not work.’

‘What about that kaffir Malema? I hope you haven’t killed him yet; I’m looking forward to doing that myself. Come on man, get these blerrie handcuffs off me and let’s get on with killing these people. You know they killed Antonio? Without guns to fight back, we were fucked.’

‘Watch your language,’ Blessing warned, ‘I’m going to bring a lady in here to open your handcuffs. If I hear you vloek just once, I’ll tell her to leave you chained up in here until your manners improve.’
