Otto Hahn had a dream.

He dreamt of a world where everyone would live in total peace and harmony. Hahn’s world was a place of total order, full mechanical purity on the ground, and total digital control in the cloud. Hahn had always been greatly distressed by the chaos and mayhem that he saw all around the world, whether that be in the world’s great cities or even out in the more pastoral areas of whatever country he happened to be visiting. He had a problem with chaos and disorder. It bothered something deep in his psyche. Or did it bother him deep in his soul? Hahn shrugged off the discrepancy, knowing that to the ancient Greeks psyche, soul and mind were all exactly the same thing. It was of no matter, all that mattered to Hahn was doing something about this great disorder that bothered him so much. Mazes, labyrinths, control grids.

Normal men and women, the ones seen in every town or on every commuter bus or in any office of any city of any country in the world, can form opinions on what displeases them about the world. They can consider what might or might not make things better for themselves or everyone around them, but Hahn was different. Otto Hahn enjoyed the distinction of being the world’s richest man; there was no one even close to him. No challengers at all. Hahn’s estimated fortune was hard to gauge accurately, and that was exactly the way he liked it. Not even he knew exactly how much he was worth, but it was upwards of the 1.5 trillion American dollar mark. That was of no matter either. Like a handful of other lucky men and women around the world, Hahn knew that after a certain point of wealth, everything else was completely redundant. His trillions of dollars became largely redundant a long time ago. What was important to Hahn was how he could use this money to change the world in his own image and to his own liking. This is what made Hahn tick – knowing that he could change the world for the better or exactly as he wanted to change it. The way he saw it, those two things were the same.

So, the disorder would be going. No more chaos, no more mayhem, no more criminality. Not just for this city or that city, or for this handful of countries or that handful of countries under this treaty or that treaty – all this was a very passé way of looking at global control, at looking at human management. Stretching into the second quarter of the 21st Century demanded more globalised solutions, and Hahn, as the Chief Executive Officer of Hahn Global Solutions was the perfect man to implement the remedy to the world’s ills.

Where there had been disorder, mayhem and bedlam in the past, there would now be order, peace and harmony. This would be imposed not by the hard force of an army, or an overly zealous police force, but by the simple application of full digital control.
