By now you’re sensing a theme, right? Find a form of exercise that makes you happy and works for your life. We can’t really say this enough, because it’s so important, and one of the biggest mistakes we see people make on their health journeys is trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. In the case of exercise and movement, more than any other category, the secret to healthy is to be happy with whatever you’re doing so you will keep doing it. But because some of us don’t like too many choices, we wanted to offer up some low-hanging exercise fruit—two things that you can fall back on whenever you run out of ideas or if you just want to be 100 percent sure you’re getting in your 80 percent. Two things we know for sure: you need to move, and you need to maintain muscle mass in order to maintain health and well-being throughout your life. In the next two sections we’ll talk about two ways you can accomplish that without having to spend much time or money. In fact, they are two of the most accessible activities around. You can incorporate them into your day and do them in short bursts of time, making it entirely possible to do what every doctor in America wants you to do: move it.

So, let’s dig into why walking isn’t just for old people, and lifting weights isn’t just for bodybuilders at the gym.
