THE PRINCE OF TIRES

Heidi Champa

Stacy and Rob sure knew how to throw a party. Well, at least they always supplied enough free booze. God bless them for moving into a new house. Not that we needed an excuse to get together and drink, but as we’ve gotten older and hit thirty, it seemed classier to have a reason to get shit-faced. I had a policy that whatever I spent on a gift for a party, I tried to drink the equivalent amount in booze. That way, everyone was happy.

I knew there was no way I could drive home; we were too far out in the country to get a cab. But I couldn’t stay over, because I had to be up too early the next morning. I was struck with a brilliant idea—at least it seemed brilliant to my wine-soaked brain. Using the fancy roadside assistance button in my car, I summoned a tow truck to Stacy and Rob’s driveway. The tinny, female voice told me to sit tight and help would arrive soon.

Everyone else had left the party and Stacy and Rob had gone to bed. I sat on the stone wall that lined the driveway, staring up at the sky when I heard the rumbling engine coming down the road. I looked up and was nearly blinded by the orange lights flashing on top of the white truck. It lit up the whole driveway, making it look like daytime. The strobe effect of the lights was making my head hurt, but I didn’t want to let the driver know I was drunk, so I tried to pull it together before he saw me.

The driver jumped out from the cab, and I got up and walked toward him, trying my damnedest not to stagger. He shook his head when he saw me coming, his face showing his agitation. Despite his scowl, I could tell right away how attractive he was.

“What seems to be the trouble with the car?”

“Oh, I’m not sure. It wouldn’t start. I think it’s the battery or maybe the transmission.”

“Right. Does it start at all?”

“Sometimes, but not all the time. I didn’t think I should risk it. You can help me, right?”

I stopped talking just in time for a loud hiccup to leave my mouth. It was followed by a burp, and the noise made me giggle. I wasn’t doing a very good job of hiding my condition. He shook his head again, and I thought I saw a smirk cross his lips. I was still buzzed, but not nearly as drunk as I had been earlier in the night. His voice was deep, and had an authority to it that made me jump, and made my cock harden a bit.

“Well, no problem. I can tow it to your garage for you and they can figure it out.”

“It’s not going to a garage, it’s going to my house. I’ll deal with it on my own. If that’s okay?”

He didn’t ask me any more questions, just turned to do his work.
