DASHIEL’S FIRST TOY: While I was pregnant with Dash, I took a trip to Paris with my best friend. While we were there, we did some major baby shopping. The first toy I bought him was a stuffed toy musical guitar—it’s covered in really cool printed fabrics, and when you pull the string, it plays “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.”

SIMONE’S FAVORITE TOYS: I really like the Lamaze soft development toys for him, and wooden musical toys. I try to avoid plastic toys, so I haven’t bought any for him personally. But my parents and my husband’s parents don’t see the problem in them and buy him lots of plastic toys that talk to him and light up—they are insane, but Dash loves them. As he gets older, I am going to try my hardest to keep him away from toy weapons—I just don’t get plastic guns.
