The Ties That Bind
Sitting silently in Diceâs room, Damion stares blankly at the drawing on the wall.
I'm probably making things bigger in my head than they need to be, so much has happened in a short span so it's understandable. But sitting at a crossroads of confusion isn't helping my situation get any better. . . Maybe if I line things up clearly it'll help me figure out my next plan of attack.
Folding his hands at the back of his neck Damion begins to whisper as he says, âWell, thereâs Jordan⦠Wh-what even was that interaction? Was I supposed to run into him in the park at that precise moment? Probably not, because that whole situation between me and Nami at the park wouldn't have come about if I didn't run into Carmen in the mall. But did Dice run into him in that park before? No, thatâs not possible as he asked my name and gave me his."
Damion stands up and begins to pace as he continues."Snow did say it was a ninety-eight percent similarity, so is this a part of the missing two percent? Did I make the gap wider with my current actions? How long was he in the park? Was he observing me and Nami, or was he there for something else? How didnât I notice him? He couldn't have just been there for a cat and an experiment. Then thereâs the cat! He⦠he broke its paw!â
Recalling the incident makes Damionâs stomach turn with disgust. âWhat if nobody came to help that poor animal, would he have tortured it? Or maybe Dice living in this timeline caused a bigger shift than Iâm aware of and the cat was a sign of that shift? But then the question becomes: if there was a shift due to Diceâs death, what was it? Who did Jordan meet? Or did he even meet anyone?â
I would have to ask Snow, but can I even contact her? No, that shouldn't even be an option in my head, seeing as she's probably busy with events that are happening in other universes ⦠or The Citadel.
Damion runs a hand over his head as he thinks back to the Citadel, and the images of the place that was more breathtaking than any words can describe ⦠but as swiftly as he remembers its beauty, a crack runs down his memory giving way to the small glimpse he got into seeing and hearing of their underworld. Where they murdered people, and children, for the sake of a false idea of democracy.
How could such a beautiful place have such an ugly world hidden beneath it. . . The Sigma Squad, The Council, and there's probably more there that I didn't even get to see.
With a sigh, he plops onto the bed.
What I wouldn't give for a second chance to go over there.
âSnow, her sister, and The Citadel is a whole 'nother thing to worry about, with its' own category so for now, I can put those thoughts off to the side since I have no access to gaining any answers.
