CHAPTER TWENTY

Oliver

As much as I hate flashing my money in most situations, I almost wish I’d paid to keep this private plane reserved for the Titan team only. Then I wouldn’t have to be listening to Graff’s obnoxious voice droning in the background as he talks to West about the track in Istanbul, where we’ll be landing in an hour. But even Titan doesn’t splurge for a jet of their own, so we’re sharing the small bird with Vogel this time around.

I don’t usually hate Graff so much—he’s a decent guy and one hell of a driver, one of the few on the grid who presents a challenge these days, as shown by the Dubai race. But right now, I want to shove his stupid face out the door without a parachute and watch him plummet into the desert below, all because Allie is sitting in the chair next to West, listening avidly to their conversation as if she wants to soak up as much knowledge as possible.

I haven’t managed to speak to her since last night. I was late coming down to the lobby this morning because I couldn’t find my phone, then discovered it in my jacket pocket, battery dead. That meant I couldn’t even check my email on the drive to the airport, not until I got to my seat and plugged myself in.

How was the cake?

Her phone pings a few seconds later. She doesn’t look at me as she replies.

Delicious, thank you.

She puts her phone away and doesn’t send me anything more. I drop my phone back on the table in front of me and sigh, rubbing my face with my hands. Fucking hell, I don’t know what I’m doing. Last night was a mistake, but I can’t bring myself to regret those kisses. Having Allie in my arms had felt so right, it’s almost unnatural now to be away from her, even though she’s sitting just ten feet from me.

Bella appears beside me and sits on the chair to my right. She leans in close, bringing with her a whiff of her sweet perfume. It’s nice, but not nearly as remarkable as Allie’s. It reminds me of how amazing Allie smelled when I finally—

“Okay, spit it out,” Bella murmurs. “What did you do?”

I frown at her. “What?”

She motions with her hand. “Come on, you can tell Auntie Bella.”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I tell her, speaking slowly, even though I have a pretty good idea why she’s here.

The unimpressed look she gives me tells me she knows I’m avoiding the issue.

“You left the party early with Allie.” She keeps
