MARCHING ORDERS
1. “Eat Mor Chikin”! It’s more than a slogan. Let’s frequent businesses and establishments that share our values. Be sure to tell them how much you appreciate the way they run their businesses. Be intentional. Companies such as Brim’s Snack Foods, In-N-Out Burger, and Hobby Lobby publicly proclaim their faith in Christ. It may cost a few extra dollars, but it’s worth it to shop at a place where we know the profits are going to a good cause and good people.
2. Get organized. When faith-based companies come under attack from activists, organize a resistance team. Remember what happened during the great Chick-fil-A war a few years back? Customers staged Chick-fil-A days and overwhelmed restaurants with food orders and cheerful hearts. It also sent a message to future activists that there are more of us than there are of them. If they want to try to flex their muscle and put a place out of business for honoring Christ, we’ll flex our muscle right back.
3. Boycott. Speaking of flexing our muscles, boycotts work. When Target announced that it would allow men who “identify” as women to use the bathrooms and changing rooms of their choice, the American Family Association launched a massive boycott. Hundreds of thousands signed on. And the result smacked Target’s bottom line. Its stock price cratered.57 Likewise, when the NFL refused to crack down on players disrespecting the national anthem, people changed the channel. To this day the NFL refuses to admit the near-historic ratings drop in 2016 was because of the national anthem issue.58 Target is trying to claw back without admitting their mistake.59
