COLOUR AND FORMATION

This crystal grows in an incredible cubic formation that is often transparent and may contain subtle etchings or markings on the surface. Vibrant in colour, it is often a brilliant shade of green or purple, however other hues such as pink, blue, yellow or red can also occur.

SOURCE AND HISTORY

Fluorite can be found in the United States, Mexico, Peru, Great Britain, Germany and China. In ancient history, it was seen widely as an ornamental stone and was often carved into amulets, statues and decorative art. In the eighteenth century, powdered fluorite mixed with water was used to relieve kidney disease.
