Depending on your audience and project, there might be an opportunity to offer a reward that’s nostalgic for backers. You just have to brainstorm what people might be pining for from the past.

The two standards manual campaigns were nostalgic. For the NYCTA manual, we told the story about how confusing the subway system used to be before standards were developed in the ’70s, emphasizing what a tremendous moment in history that was. For the NASA manual, we were trying to bring back a graphic identity that many people loved and recognized from the ’70s and ’80s.
