My eyes blinked open, and I immediately closed them against the glare. Why was everything so bright? I felt someone stir beside me, and I remembered, Luke. And snow… lots of snow. But mostly, Luke.

I’d turned around while I slept, and my face was against his chest, his warm breath tickled my forehead. Seemingly, with him here, it didn’t matter that the heating wasn’t working, we were cosy and snug. Warm, soft and just… divine. Maybe not that soft, I thought to myself as I brushed against Luke’s front.

“Morning,” he whispered as his lips swept against my forehead; it was delectable.

“Morning,” I replied with a sleepy smile, squeezing him in a hug.

“Hold that thought for two minutes. Can I borrow your toothbrush?”

“You can,” I laughed. “Or there’s a new pack under the sink.”

“For all the men you lure up here?” he teased.

“Because they were three for two in Boots, actually,” I kissed his chest. “Come back quickly.”

He clambered over me, and I must have immediately dozed off again as I was awoken by the softest kisses on my forehead and eyelids as he slid under the covers with me. “I have to warn you, the bathroom is freezing.”

I grimaced at the thought of it. “Be right back, don’t go anywhere!”

Two minutes later, bladder empty, teeth clean, I dashed back to him, stopping only to turn the fire up as I launched myself back under the covers and tried to warm my icy feet.

“You OK, Lily?” Luke asked.

“Definitely. Are you desperate to get out of here yet? Shall we make a sign to hang out of the window?”

“Perfectly happy where I am,” he said as he reached forward and kissed me. I was so glad I’d braved the icy bathroom to clean my teeth as his tongue slid into my mouth. My nerves were gone, replaced by a simple but stubborn longing for him. This time there weren’t words as we reached for other, hands exploring and encouraging. Delving, teasing, arousing, bringing heat to every part of each other and raising desires way beyond my earlier imaginings.

“Can you reach my jeans?” Luke whispered as the feelings between us reached a height. I looked puzzled, and he smiled, placing a kiss against my reddened lips. “Thought we might need something out of my wallet?”

That was all the encouragement I needed. I jumped up and grabbed them from behind the couch, swiftly locating the wallet and passing it to Luke. He sat up and tucked a large blanket behind his back before motioning me to his knee. I sat astride him with a smile as he leaned forwards and tugged the blanket down over us, so we were enshrouded in a warm, soft haven of dusky pink. Just us. The outside world was gone; we were the only people who existed anymore.

“I can stop anytime…” he whispered as he kissed my neck and pulled me closer, our entire bodies seeking each other out. “Just say the word.”

“Don’t stop… I can’t stop,” I raised myself up slightly as he tore open the condom and put it on.
