Skye

For the briefest moment, I had a twinge of hesitation following Alexis Cole into the living room. I’m not so out of touch not to know I was about to spend an evening with people made of fame and fortune.

We chatted at the concert, but here, in such a casual setting, I’m not sure why I wasted any time worrying about meeting them again.

They’re funny, unintimidating, and they don’t care that my dad comes from Las Vegas royalty. To them, I’m just Skye, Vegas Kings trainer.

Alexis’s husband and his bandmate start clearing the table from our takeout boxes and taco bags. I’m not sure I’ve ever eaten so many hard-shell tacos. I might’ve lost myself a bit, but they were delicious, and I wasn’t the only one.

Griffin had no less than twenty, so did the kid. Mason Walker. He wants to play baseball, so I’ve been using that to repeat his name in my odd way of learning names all night. Mason is a King in the making and doesn’t miss when it comes to catching the balls. So, Mason isn’t missin’ and is makin’ the right plays. A King in the making Mason.

I wish I could say I didn’t have to do the same thing for the people I’ve already met, but here I am rememorizing the names of faces I saw, talked with, got to know at the concert.

Bridger Cole. Best friend of Parker, the husband of Parker’s sister. He’s a bridge between them. Bridger.

Rees. How did I recall his name at the concert?

I glance at his eyes and grin. There it is. Two different colors, a brown eye and a blue. Peanut butter and chocolate are two different flavors, but both make a Rees’s Peanut Butter Cup. Two different colors. Two different flavors. Rees.

It’s a wild ride up here in my head.

For some reason Alexis sticks, and finally, so does the girlfriend, Vienna. Mostly because I’ve been to Vienna, Austria, and I have it locked in there since I nearly made a fool out of myself when I didn’t know who she was when Parker first said her name earlier.

Baby Garett wasn’t hard to memorize because Parker has been babbling with his nephew, calling him Gare-buddy, all night.

I’m not saying my body melts at the sight of my Colosseum Viking with a baby, but I’m not, not saying it either.

″Hey Park,” Alexis says as she starts to pack up Garett’s diaper bag. “Did you ever get those special editions of Wicked Darlings? I promised Rees I’d read them.”

″They’re good, Lex,” Rees says. “And you’ll break my brother’s heart if you don’t.”

Oh, yeah. Rees is also a twin. Two flavors, two of him. His twin is famous too. Some up and coming actor who scored the lead in a Netflix series based on the Wicked Darlings book series. Funny enough, I’ve seen a few episodes, and now I intend to dive back in since it makes it so strangely exciting to know people who know the guy on the screen.
