These seven characteristics of SSI reflect the main elements that system innovations have to fulfil in order to be successful, based on the experiences of TNO (in conjunction with Delft University of Technology) over the past decade. At the same time, they outline an ambition: is it possible to organise an innovation process with these characteristics and, if so, what will it look like? The next sections illustrate how this ambition can be achieved based on the experiences of TNO and Delft University of Technology. Recommendations for improvement and further research are provided.
