Chapter 21 - Alistair

We’re sitting next to each other in the warm water, panting, recovering from another round of mind-blowing orgasms.

“I wish we could just stay here”, she murmurs, her eyes closed, her face flushed in that beautiful coral tone.

“Come back to mine”, I blurt out without thinking. “You can meet my brother Ben. Who knows – Zoe might be there, too.” I frown, surprised at myself. I don’t usually spend time with women in a non-sexual capacity.

“Zoe…” Mia’s eyes flutter open. “I bet she’s been trying to reach me. I’ll need to give her a call later.” She looks up at me. “I want to go with you, I really do, but I can’t stay away any longer. It’ll be hard enough to explain to my dad where I was last night. And we’ve got work tomorrow.”

“Work”, I repeat, as if it’s a novel concept.

“Yes”, she grins. “You know that place we go where you act like a tyrant and order me to do the most mind-numbingly boring tasks?”

I realize that I haven’t thought about Bluemount or Innovire once in the last twelve hours. Must be a new record. “Speaking of.” I reach over and start to massage her shoulder. “I’m thinking of moving you to the audit department.”

“What?” She looks at me, surprised.

“One of my accountants came into my office on Friday. Does the name Greg Nuss mean anything to you?”

She frowns for a moment, then her face lights up with a memory. “Greg! Of course! Creepy elevator guy! What did he want?”

“He told me that one of my internal investigators cornered him on Monday. He apologized, started to cry actually, and said he’d resign and pay it all back if I only I could leave the police out of it. Turns out he’s been embezzling money from Bluemount.”

Mia punches the air. “Ha! I knew he had something to hide. Wait…” she drops her arm back into the water. “How did you know it was me?”

I press my fingers into her shoulder blade. Her neck is soft, relaxed. “Well, for one thing, we don’t have any internal investigators at Bluemount. And you fit the description perfectly. ‘A pretty, tenacious young lady in a red blouse.’”

“He called me pretty?” She looks like I just told her that I’m secretly a lizard.

“Yes! Just like anyone else with eyes in their head.” Why won’t she believe how beautiful she is?

“What did you do?”, she asks, dismissing my comment.

“I agreed not to call the police if he gave me a full account of his activities and paid it all back immediately.”

She grins. “Heart of gold after all”, she whispers.

I scoff. “It’s just good business sense. If the police got involved, we’d have to drag the whole thing before the courts and it would take months to get the money back.”

She smiles but doesn’t respond. Instead, she closes her eyes and leans back into my touch.

I kiss her shoulder and draw her closer to me. Having her naked like this puts my cock on constant alert.
