It had been a long, hard day of working with the cattle. Trevor hadn’t seen Jenna again, not until now. As the sun began to set and he prepared to call it a day, she slowed to a trot as she neared the barn.

The remnants of sunlight highlighted her blonde hair, and her blue eyes bore into his once she dismounted. Her face was blank, but not ignoring him had to be a good sign.

She could play cold all she wanted. Trevor knew she had feelings for him. What they shared was mutually enjoyed. When he pinned her in the barn, he didn’t fail to notice her pulse increase and her throat working harder. For some reason, she continued to deny herself, as if she had to live up to being some stone-cold bitch. He knew her secret, maybe he should have made that more clear.

Jenna led her horse to the bay doors and swatted him in. She had her horse better trained than any he’d ever seen, and it returned to its stall without delay. “So, how’s the branding coming along?”

“We had a good day considering we’re short-staffed. Any luck finding help?”

“I think so. The guys at the Johnston ranch are spreading the word, and a couple are gonna stop by next week.” She looked preoccupied. Were they going to go back to a working relationship and pretend nothing happened between them? That may work for awhile, but he’d never be able to forget. Could she?

“You finished for the day?”

She ignored his pointless small talk. “Did Conner talk to you? Tell you anything about me?”

He thought about it. Should he play dumb or keep things honest between them? “I wouldn’t have come to your place if he hadn’t.”

“Shit!” She spun around, raking her hands through her hair. “I knew it! You came looking for one thing. Who else knows? Don’t tell me the whole ranch’s been talking about it.” He remained calm. The interior of the barn was dim now, most of the ranch hands off for the night. Trevor was always the last to leave for the evening, due to his responsibility as foreman. “Nobody 70

knows.” He almost whispered as he approached her. “I don’t plan on telling a soul, darlin’.”

“Good. Keep it that way.”

“I will. I don’t plan on sharing you.” Once close enough, he ducked his head and nuzzled her neck, pulling her closer with an arm around the waist. She needed to let go and admit she wanted this as much as he did.

She didn’t pull away, but whispered against his hair, “Why are you doing this to me, foreman?”

“Say my name.”

“No.”

“Remember what I did to you with my tongue? I’ll suck your sweet little pussy right here. Anything you want, say the word.” He nipped her earlobe, making her shudder. “Say my name.”

“Trevor, don’t do this. I can’t handle being one of your flings.” Was she one of his flings? He never stayed with one woman because he either lost interest or declared himself too young to settle down.
