CHAPTER SIXTEEN

“That’s the house up there,” said Alec, pointing toward the massive mansion on the hill. The back of the house faced the beach below and the water beyond that. “It should be dark soon.”

“We need to know how many men are in that place,” said Tailor. “Stone? Send up a drone with heat sensors. Make magic, brother.” Stone nodded at the big man, lifting the drone out of its case and powering it up.

The drones, like almost everything made at G.R.I.P., were equipped with the stealth netting as well as explosives should it be taken by anyone. If someone attempted to grab it, they would have a very big, very painful surprise.

“Alright, I’m up,” said Stone. “Fuck, that place has to be twenty thousand square feet or more.”

“That’s only what we see,” said Alec. “I’m going to bet Papa Torrelioni has a bunch of hidden space below that house. It faces the water, which means there’s a cliff below them, possibly even another entrance.”

“Bingo. Stairs from the beach to a steel door below the house. Six guards walking the grounds out front. All with sidearms and AK-47s. Two Dobermans as well. The back has eight more guards, same firepower, no dogs that I can see.”

“The dogs will be easy.”

“Holy fucking shit!”

“Son-of-a-bitch!”

“Fuck, my heart stopped. I’m dying,” said Phoenix. “I literally think I’m dying.”

“Hiro, I swear to God, I’m gonna kill you one day, brother,” said Tailor. “I threatened it to Trak a million times, but I couldn’t catch the bastard.”

“What makes you think you can catch me?” he grinned. “I was beneath the stealth netting just in case something happened. As I was saying, the dogs will be easy. I can have one of the drones drop some pieces of meat laced with a nice doggy sedative. It won’t hurt them, I promise. Lucy gave it to me when we left.”

“Damn, brother, I’m glad you thought of that,” said Phoenix.

“Do it,” said Alec. “And Hiro? Don’t pop out anywhere else. I don’t want to kill you.”

Hiro grinned, nodding at the two giants in front of him. He sent the second drone up with the tainted meat in its belly, flying slowly over the front lawn. Catching the attention of the dogs, he lowered toward the ground, then released the meat.

As expected, the animals came running, nibbling on the nuggets right away. The dogs immediately began to wobble back and forth, then walked toward a shady spot beneath the trees and simply lay down and fell asleep.

“Clear of dogs,” grinned Hiro.

“Let’s go,” said Tailor. “Alec and I will take the eight at the back of the property. The rest of you take the front and then get inside. Use the silencers. They might not care if the neighbors hear, but I do.”

Dusk quickly turned to dark as Alec and Tailor made their way around to the backyard and pool area. Two men were eliminated without any weapons whatsoever. Both men lay on the ground, their necks snapped. As another two men caught sight of the giants, they raised their weapons, but to no avail.
