Chapter 17
After ten minutes or so, we finally made our way into the club. I’d remembered the dude at the door looking at ID’s and I knew you had to be at least twenty-one to get in and I knew Ty was only nineteen, so I paid the brotha an extra twenty to let Ty in. He didn’t have a problem since both Ty and I were in the military. Most people always felt that if you could go in the military and sacrifice your life for our country, why couldn’t you buy a pack of cigarettes, buy alcohol and go to a club?
I escorted Ty around the club so that he could see how the club was set up and if he wanted to venture out on his own, he would know where the bar was and where the rest rooms were located. We hadn’t been in the club no more than a hot ten minutes and while at the bar putting our order in, comes this brotha up in my face, asking me my name.
“What’s your name, sexy?” the brotha asked.
“His name is not important, besides he’s with me,” Ty said, coming to my defense.
“Whoa, my bad, I didn’t know he was with you,” the brotha responded with his hands in the air.
“How could you not know he wasn’t with me, we been standing here for the last few minutes talking and waiting for our order, muthafucka!”
“Ty, chill bruh.” People started to hear Ty and look in our direction so I needed to squash this before it got out of hand. “Yo man, you have to forgive my boy here. This is his first time in a gay club. Lemme buy you a drink and forget this ever happened, how’s that?”
“Oh a’ight,” he said, looking Ty up and down. “Its cool man but you need to keep your little pit bull locked up at home or on a fuckin’’ leash,” the dude said, as he trailed off into the crowd.
Personally, I found what he said to be funny, but Ty didn’t. He started to go after the dude, until I pulled him back and walked him over on the other side of the club.
“Ty, what’s yo’ fuckin’ problem?”
“How that niggah gonna walk up on you like that and I’m standing here? He don’t know who I am, fuck that muthafucka. For all he knew, I coulda been yo niggah and he just totally disrespected me by approaching you, in front of me.”
“A’ight man, I hear you but you can’t be flying off like that. I don’t know any of these brothas in here and I am not getting my ass whooped by a bunch of homosexuals because you felt disrespected. Let’s go with the flow, have a couple more drinks, dance and have a good time, a’ight?”
“Cool. My bad.”
For the next hour or so, Ty and I danced our asses off and had a ball, especially during our CRUNK dance off. Now, I’ll admit Ty did beat me and the crowd agreed but in my defense, Ty had been crunking a lot longer then I had.
