Chapter 12

Owen woke slowly and blinked at the late afternoon sun shining in through his window.

That can’t be right—I’m never home in the… Oh, yeah.

He groaned as he rolled over onto his back, sheets tangling around his legs. God, he’d needed that nap. He was still groggy, still too behind on sleep to be fully caught up, but he felt a hundred times better than he had that morning.

His sleep cycle was going to be fucked though.

He winced. His sleep cycle wasn’t the only thing that was fucked. Yeah, being closed a day probably wouldn’t ruin his business, but he’d have an extra day’s worth of ingredients that he’d have to subtract from his next orders, and wasn’t that new dairy guy supposed to come by to talk prices?

Fuck. Maybe if Owen was really really lucky, when Trevor called Yvonne he’d seen the note and called the dairy guy to reschedule too.

Owen slid a sleep-warm hand down his stomach and under the waistband of his boxers. He’d been conscious enough to kick off his jeans before collapsing into bed. Convenient. It would’ve been more convenient if he’d been conscious enough to invite Trevor to join him for his nap instead of just to see the apartment. Owen wrapped his fingers around his cock and pulled gently.

Yeah, now that would be something to wake up to, Trevor is his bed, all fuzzy with sleep, his perfect hair out of order and his sharp words dulled for once behind soft, parted lips.

Owen sped his hand up.

That was fine, there were plenty of things he and Trevor could do in a bed that didn’t involve talking. He moaned at the thought. Trevor would probably do that cute little nose scrunch thing when he woke up that he did when the sun got in his face too. Damn, that was adorable.

Owen stilled his hand. What the fuck? It was one thing to get off thinking about how hot Trevor was, but to thinking he was adorable?

His cock twitched.

No, dammit. He pulled his hand out of his boxers. Those weren’t the kind of thoughts you had about someone you just wanted to sleep with, those were... Those were something else.

He rolled up to sit on the edge of his bed, trying to ignore his hard on. It’d just been way too long, that was all. He had enough shit to deal with without trying to make his feelings for Trevor out to be more than they were. He just needed to get laid. Maybe in a week or two, when he was more settled into the new routine, he’d close early again. Take an evening off to find some company.

He nodded, plan settled. But first he had to take a shower, then see what he could salvage of the rest of the day. He waddled across the narrow hallway into the bathroom.

Better make it a cold shower.

A quarter of an hour later, refreshed and revived, Owen circled his shoulder in the bathroom mirror. Not back to normal yet, but it felt infinitely better than it had before.
