When the best sanitary conditions are not available, as in most disasters, Formula three times a day is an adequate diet for your baby. To make Formula, the other food items that you will require are boiled water, sugar, vegetable oil, and milk powder. Non-fat milk powder is preferred.

Though the Formula is adequate, during an emergency, for the best protection of infant, multi-vitamin pills are also a necessity. A baby needs Vitamin A, D and C to avoid any deficiencies. The pills can be crushed into powder form and fed to the baby by mixing it into the Formula or any other liquid he will drink. Vitamin C deficiency can also be avoided with Orange juice. But, before buying any orange juice, make sure of the contents as preservatives are not good for the baby and most cartons will be full of them with less nutritional value. A baby needs at least 15 mg of Vitamin C each day.
