There are instructions on line for building this box out of scrap metal or even a microwave. Make a list of what is in the box so you don’t forget. By all means, include a radio (AM/FM), a solar battery charger, a small generator, inverters, and computer equipment optional. Also consider storing a watch. It is comforting to know the time of day or night, even in a world gone dark.

Keep flashlights handy and ample appropriate batteries.

Think about battery backup power. There is nothing more terrifying than losing communication with family and close friends. Forget cell phone usage. Keep batteries in the Faraday Cage so you can rev up the two-way or ham radio (CBs don’t have a long range by the way).
