Chapter Eight

Stalker's warm body was pressed against mine, his arms wrapped tightly around me. It gave me a sense of safety I couldn't ever remember feeling. I was afraid to open my eyes in case it went away.

The nose nudging my neck made me shiver as slivers of pleasure zipped through my body. I tilted my head back, baring my neck. I smiled at Stalker's husky chuckle.

"Is my little fox going to claim me with a bite?"

My eyes popped open at my surprise. "You'd let me do that?"

Stalker had a frown on his face when he lifted his head. "You're my mate. Of course I'd let you claim me. I was actually kind of hoping you'd want to."

"Of course I want to," I said quickly. "I just didn't think you'd let me. You're the apex predator in this relationship."

Stalker chuckled before rolling over onto his back, pulling me on top of him. "We're mates, Jojo. That makes us equal in this relationship." Striker arched his head back. "Now, claim me, mate."

I leaned down and scraped my teeth along the arch of Striker's throat. A sense of pride filled me when the man shuddered against me. I licked at his skin before scraping my teeth over him again.

When Striker's hands clenched at my hips and I felt his hard cock prodding my abdomen, I sank my teeth into his neck. The flow of blood was instantaneous as was Striker's high cry and the warm release that spread between us.

I took enough to know that our bond was complete before extracting my teeth and licking the wound clean. No power on earth could have prevented the smile on my face when I lifted my head.

Striker chuckled as he cuddled me close.

"I had no idea you were a cuddler," I remarked as I snuggled in.

"I had no idea you were a snuggler."

"I won't tell if you don't."

"Deal," Striker replied.

I laid my head down on Striker's chest and listened to his heart beat against my ear. I never in a million years considered that I would be in this position. It had always been a faraway dream, something to hold on to and fantasize about when life got me down.

I was terrified of losing it.

"My father will come for me and Tommy."

Striker needed to know that.

"He won't come alone."

Striker needed to know that, too.

"We'll be ready for him, Jojo."

I wasn't sure anyone could ever really be ready for Alpha Thomas Langston. The man was conniving and manipulative. He used intimidation and threats to get his way, and when those didn't work, he used violence.

"We have to do something to stop him, Striker."

"First, we need to make sure you and Tommy are protected."

"How?"

"By joining the pride here. They will help protect you. It also takes away some of your father's power if you belong to another pride."

"Skulk."

Stalker snorted. "Same thing."

It wasn't really, but I wasn't about to argue.

"We should wake Tommy and go see your alpha."

"Your alpha now, too, Jojo."

"Yeah."

I jumped when Stalker patted me on the ass.
