Slugs

Officially, SLUGs (Symbiotic Lethal Unrestrained Gargantua) don’t exist. And yet those unfortunate enough to encounter them claim otherwise—if they survived the encounter.

When we say that aliens don’t exist—as far as we know—we refer to sentient, intelligent aliens. The only ones we know for certain exist—or rather, existed—are the Architects. Everything else is speculation.

However, that doesn’t mean that there’s no life out there besides us.

As we began exploring our solar system and beyond, it quickly turned out that life is more common in the universe than was previously thought.

Life has been found on Saturn’s moons Enceladus and Titan, as well as on Jupiter’s largest moon, Europa. Fossils have been found on Ganymede, Io, and Mars. Many more different species have been discovered in the Alpha Centauri, Tau Ceti, and Sirius systems.

However, those were nothing more than microbes and other very basic lifeforms—at least upon discovery. Due to radiation and reckless science experiments, some of those very basic lifeforms mutated and evolved into not-so-tiny and basic lifeforms, some of which turned out to be extremely dangerous. Today, we know of almost two dozen species that have evolved from alien microbes.

One of the most dangerous of those new lifeforms is the SLUG. They’re based on microbes found in the Tau Ceti system that were brought to a lab on Mars. There, something must have gone terribly wrong. Around thirty years ago, the lab was found destroyed, all its personnel dead. A couple of months later, the first sightings of SLUGs were reported.

The creatures resemble the slugs found on Earth a little bit. They’re slimy with no extremities and no eyes. But they’re a thousand times bigger than their little brothers on Earth. A fully grown slug can reach the size of a hippo.

Despite their size, slugs are very simple creatures that don’t do much more than eat and procreate. They prefer to live in dark, dry places. The problem is that they eat literally everything—including human flesh—and are much faster than they look.

We don’t expect you ever to encounter any of them, but if you do, don’t get into contact with their saliva, as it’s highly venomous to humans.
