Chapter 15

New orleans crew

Camdyn, Kangee, Gage, Cora, Presley, Chayton, and Octavia exited the private plane that Jayson had set up for them in South Carolina. They looked like a group of young soldiers. All dressed in black cargo pants and t-shirts. The girls wore long sleeves while the guys were short. They had the map with them, and the four boys looked it over while waiting for the rental car to be brought around front.

“You two bird boys are going to have to take to the air, so we can get a visual,” Camdyn said while pointing to the location of where they were sure the institute was located.

Kangee said, “Yes but carefully. We don’t know exactly what we’re going into.”

“Aye.” Cam nodded in agreement folding the map as Cora walked over with keys to a large SUV. Walking out together the group put their bags and equipment into the cargo area. Cam opened one of the hard cases and pulled out earpieces.

“A communication system!” Cora exclaimed in excitement, “That’s awesome, Cam.”

“It will make communicating easier while in animal form. They are designed by magic to stay in your ears when you transform into your counterparts. And your animal’s thoughts will be understood by us all.” Octavia explained.

“And will allow us, humans, to stay active in the hunt,” Presley said as she wrapped her arms around Gage and laid her head against his chest.

The two human females, Cora and Presley planned to stay in the motel room and provide tactical support from laptops. Gage and Cam were ground support, Kangee and Chayton were air and Octavia was the magical end to this all. If this was a video game, you had everything to make a perfect team.

Climbing into the SUV they drove a few miles down the highway, where they found a motel within two miles of where the little lakes were supposed to be. Most of the crew would be going on foot to have the element of surprise when they entered the facility. Vehicles would only alert someone to their presence.

Going into the motel, Cora went to check-in, grabbing two connecting rooms for the large group of friends.

While the clerk did his thing with the computer she idly asked if there were any beaches around. She explained that she and her group of friends were on vacation and just looking to relax a bit before heading home. As he handed her the room keys he explained about the lakes a couple of miles away. Nice beaches and they were supposed to be connected in some spots too. Cora thanked him, smiled sweetly, and headed out the door.

When she rejoined the group Kangee asked why she had such a big smile on her face. Cora explained about her conversation with the clerk which put a smile on everyone’s face. Kangee hugged her close kissing the top of her head.

As much as the girls didn’t want to be separated from their counterparts, they decided it would be best to have the females in one room and the males in another for the night.
