Chapter Nine

“There he is,” Frankie said pointing at a man who just exited the hanger. They had been sitting for the last few minutes just watching the activity around them. Bus nor Frankie wanted to get closer just in case those assholes figured out where they were.

“You sure that is him? It doesn’t look like Chopper,” Bus asked cautiously. Frankie was pointing at a man dressed in a Hawaiian shirt, cargo shorts, and what looked like fucking boat shoes, he also had shoulder-length dirty blonde hair tied back in what looked like some kind of leather string, what in the ever-loving fuck? There is no way Chopper would be caught dead in that get-up, at least not the Chopper he remembered. He got closer and yelled.

“Bus, Frankie, get out here,” Jeremy said urgently holding up his phone. “Someone needs to talk to you. I will get Zach on the plane.”

Frankie frowned but nodded as Bus got out of the driver’s seat and Jeremy took his place. She turned to talk to her son, but they heard Bus say, “Ed Thomas? Why are you calling me?”

Zach leaned forward and said, “That is grandpa.”

Chopper nodded, “It is, but we need to move quickly. Ed is telling Bus what is going on at the compound right now.”

Frankie shook her head, “Why is Ed calling Bus and not me.”

“Get our so you can hear everything. I need to get Zach on that plane, it is set to take off in five minutes,” Jeremy said, “Trust me.”

Frankie hesitated and then said, “If you are lying to me, I will kill you.”

“I know,” Jeremy said. “Here are the flight details you can check on them quickly.”

Frankie pulled out an extra phone and quickly confirmed the information Jeremy had given to her, then she said. “You could have made all this up, I know it, but I am trusting you. From what I understand you are not involved with Creed.”

“Nope never heard of him before yesterday. I promise this is on the up and up.”

“Mom?” Zach said softly.

She looked at him and said, “Everything is fine, I am sure Bus will arrange for them to pick you up as we planned, this will have something to do with what we are going to do after you leave.”

Jeremy said, “It does, Zach your grandparents are fine.” He was talking down to her son, he didn’t know how Zach was, good let him be in the dark a little.

“Jerk, tell me what is going on!” Zach ordered.

Jeremy looked at Frankie in surprise and she said.

“Son, I told you we would deal with this, you need to get on that plane so they can get you out of here. Here is a phone, use it if needed.”

Zach glared at his mother, “You can’t make calls in the air.”

Frankie rolled her eyes and said, “I told you that was bullshit, planes have their own Wi-Fi, I showed you how to hack one.”

Zach nodded and took the phone but didn’t say anything more.
