Treat every being encountered with courtesy. Deference and great respect should be given to superior orders of life such as the Archangels, Angels, and rulers of the elements. To those who rank lower, including other humans who will from time to time be encountered, simply bear yourself as an equal. To the elementals and such, be polite, but firm and decisive. As said before, they can be mischievous and irresponsible, and they can "fairy charm" you if allowed. But there is no malice in them.
With common sense and some testing, there is no danger of encountering anything "evil." In fact, it will make you stronger and more secure in seeking your higher natures. It is only when one is impatient and thinks he or she knows more than they do that trouble is encountered. Dabblers and curiosity seekers will be gravely disappointed, but those of an open mind, a willingness to put forth some effort toward their growth, will find new worlds, higher truths, and they will find themselves able to manifest greater joy, abundance, prosperity, and light into their world.
As the image appears behind the altar, feel their love and willingness to work with you at this level and in whatever manner they can. Allow the person to speak to you. They know you. They will call you by name. They may even call you by names you have had before. Allow them to tell you how to work more easily and beneficially at that level. Listen to the advice. Ask questions when the opportunities to do so arrive. Allow it to unfold before you, and realize that it is more than just imagination.
Don't try and direct it too much, and don't try and make it follow some preconceived idea. Here you are only given an outline with which to work. The details of the outline will vary from individual to individual, and that is perfectly all right. There are books that give details on the beings at these levels, but do not limit yourself to those descriptions. Remember that we are trying to break down the old limitations. They may in fact have reason to appear to you in a manner quite different from the manner in which they are normally depicted. Do not be afraid to ask them why they appear in the manner they do. They will not be offended or insulted. They welcome the opportunity to teach and work with you more directly. After all, they have waited patiently for a long time just for such an occasion.
Allow them to end the session when they feel it is necessary. Thank the guide and ask if you may return. It is wrong to assume that one can visit with them any time. We don't like others making assumptions about us, and we certainly don't like visitors dropping in unannounced or uninvited. You will probably find that they extend an open invitation, but asking any way is a simple courtesy and it helps to maintain a proper perspective and proper humility.
