As people scattered and took cover, Shepherd and Lucky ducked behind the box truck with two of Tomlinson’s men. Screams filled the air as churchgoers stampeded.

The bikers were now behind the tent, taking cover on the other side of the semi-truck and firing nonstop. Rounds hit the truck, the limo, and the dirt. One of Tomlinson’s men near the limo dropped. Another man, near Shepherd and Lucky, poked his head out from around the side of the box truck to shoot but ended up with a round to the chest. He staggered backward before he collapsed on the ground, lifeless eyes staring up at the stars. Shepherd leaned over and grabbed the man’s cowboy boot, pulling him back behind the truck so he could scoop up his semi-automatic weapon.

Now the biker gang had moved around the semi-truck and were heading right toward the limousine. Shepherd laid down suppressive fire as he and Lucky raced to take new cover.

One of the motorcyclists rounded the corner in a furious skid and let loose a full mag from a Mac 10 machine gun. Lucky was crouched behind the engine block of the truck only a few feet away. Shepherd tossed Lucky the gun, and she stood and took out the bike’s front tire, sending the gunman flying into the air. It was then that she noticed something different. The biker had on tight leggings, thigh-high boots, and a long black ponytail hung out from her helmet. Lucky looked around.

At first, because they all wore helmets and thick leather jackets, she had not noticed that all the bikers were women.

In the chaos, Kong quickly escorted Tomlinson into Crenshaw’s limo. The driver peeled out, the trunk with bibles still wide open and flapping as the vehicle hit potholes and small brush in the open desert.

But the limo didn’t get very far. One of the bikers raced after it, peppering its side with a flurry of bullets. One bullet struck the driver and the limo came to a stop several yards later.

Tomlinson’s outraged scream could be heard over the gunfire. A biker was nearly upon the limo when Kong kicked open the door and fired one bullet, sending the woman spiraling to her death.

Another biker nearby screamed in fury and gunned her bike toward the limo in a kamikaze yell just as Kong stepped outside with a duffle bag of money. The biker fired at Kong and he dropped, clutching his side. The woman brought her bike to a sliding stop, reached down, scooped up the bag, and zoomed away.

Meanwhile, another biker had snuck up on Shepherd and was about to shoot him when Lucky noticed and pivoted, laying down a stream of bullets that sent the biker scrambling for cover.

“That’s one for me,” Lucky shouted at Shepherd. “We’re dead even if you count the bank.”

“I’ve got one on you,” Shepherd said.

“How you figure?”

“Helicopter ride out of Guzman’s club.”

While her attention was turned toward Shepherd, another biker snuck around the truck and fired. Lucky dove but the bullet caught her arm.
