Chapter twenty

The small part of Cade’s brain that could still rationally think urged him to wait until they found Keira’s stalker and he could work out how he felt about Keira. As he ran his thumb across her bottom lip, swollen from his kisses, he knew the time wouldn’t make a difference. Keira had touched his heart in ways he’d never imagined possible.

He raised the turquoise t-shirt over Keira’s head and dropped it on the floor. He kissed her hard, then turned his attention to the creamy breasts exposed between the two halves of the black lacy bra. Bending his head down, he kissed one taut nipple, then the other. He slid the bra straps down Keira’s arms, ran his palm over the soft skin, and tossed the bra. It joined the T-shirt on the floor.

Cade threaded his fingers through the silky hair at the back of her neck with one hand and gently pulled her head to one side, exposing the gentle slope of her shoulder. He feathered kisses along its long, creamy length. Then he kissed the hollow of her neck and breathed in the soft hint of mint he’d come to associate with Keira.

He skimmed his finger down her chest and between her breasts. Keira inhaled a sharp breath. His tongue flicked over one nipple, turning it hard. He traced a circle with his tongue around the taut bud before he sucked it into his mouth. Keira’s hands clenched his hair, and she arched backward.

Cade kissed each perfect breast, then kissed her silky skin, working his way down her body, consumed by an irrational need for her he couldn’t explain.

He stopped at the waistband of the form-fitting yoga pants and looked up. “Are you sure? We can stop.”

It would take every ounce of his self-control, but he would stop if Keira felt uncomfortable.

Her eyes met his. Only a thin rim of light green outlined the dark pupils.

“I’m sure,” she said, her voice raspy.

Cade captured her mouth, this time more demanding.

Keira moaned. She reached for him and slid her hand up and down his hard length.

He gently pushed her hand away.

Cade was in no hurry. He intended to explore every inch of Keira’s beautiful body.

He bent and captured a nipple between his teeth and gently tugged. Keira squirmed against him, then froze.

The doorbell echoed throughout the house.

“Don’t move,” Cade said, stepping back from the island and grabbed his cell. “You have no idea how many sports teams have bottle drives.”

“Yeah, I do. I am your neighbor,” Keira laughed, her voice arousing Cade even more.

The doorbell rang again. “They’re persistent.” Cade tapped the icon for the doorbell cam. Detective Bree Stone stood patiently on the stoop.

“It’s Bree Stone,” Cade said.

Keira hopped off the island and picked up her bra and t-shirt off the floor.

Cade ran a hand through his hair and adjusted his pants, hoping his attraction for Keira wasn’t visible. He stopped, looked down, and pulled his t-shirt from the waistband as he headed to the front door.
