Chapter Eight

Garret

She’s quiet the whole way back to her little cottage and I start worrying that I scared her off. I was too pushy, too intense. She’s so skittish.

I pull up to her house and she turns to me. “Do you want to come in for a drink?” She says, her wide eyes so innocent and pure.

I shake my head. “I don’t think that’s a good idea, sweetheart. If I come in, I don’t think I could keep my greedy hands off of you.” I let my eyes drift down her curvy little body. Those hips, those thighs. Beautiful.

Her slim, pale fingers twist in her lap. “I-I don’t think I want you to.”

My breath stops and I swear to god it feels like I die for just a second. Just long enough to wonder if I’ve died and gone to heaven. My heart soars before I push that fucker down. It’s too soon. I shouldn’t…

“Are you sure about that, sweetheart? If I come in there, if we make love I’m claiming you. You’re mine from that second on. If you try and leave, I won’t be able to let you. You own my heart already. If we make love you’ll own my soul and I can’t let you take it and run. I’d die without you.”

She giggles but it’s a watery sound like she’s seconds from crying. “Damn, you say the sweetest, scariest things.” She stops and takes a deep breath. “Please come in, Garret.”

I’m out of the car in seconds and running around the front of the car. I practically rip the damn door off its hinges and haul her up into my arms, slamming the door behind us.

“Garret! I can walk!” She squeaks and wraps her slim arms around my neck as I jog up to the door.

“I know. I just want to touch you.” She pulls out her key and unlocks the door and I carry her inside, my eyes quickly taking stock of the room. I don’t know what I was expecting but it’s so her. Full of different bright colors and patterns. Soft textures and fabrics. It’s homey and bright and just perfect.

It’s her.

She nods her head. “Down the hall, last door on the left.”

I stride down across the room and down the hall, trying not to break into a run. I don’t want to be an asshole but I fucking want this woman.

I hold her gently with one hand and open the door, stepping inside. The room isn’t too big and most of it is taken up by a large queen bed with a soft floral bedspread in a watercolor print of grey and lavender. It’s muted and soft, dreamy. Her.

I lean down and kiss her lips, clinging to her until her mouth opens under mine. She gasps when my tongue runs along her lips and then dips inside, sliding along her tongue.

She moans and I let her slide slowly down my body, keeping her so close to me that she can’t miss touching every inch of me.
