I am taking it one step at a time. I had hoped that Draven would have come to me after our hideous argument, to see me and talk to me, hold me. But he hasn’t. My disappointment is profound, as is my confusion. We are supposed to be together, so why doesn’t he want me anymore? Is it really all about Jacob? Does he really believe that this child I am carrying is his brother’s? That, alone, crushes me, that he thinks that could ever happen.

I reach for my loose-fitting, black jersey top and then stop dead as the door opens.

It’s Draven.

He looks at me and then looks away as he closes the door.

I am standing in just my underwear, suddenly very unsure of myself.

“I’ll come back,” Draven decides after a moment’s pause.

“No,” I say fiercely. “Look at me.”

He does as I ask. His gaze roams over me and there, finally, I see what has been missing from his eyes since he returned to me. Desire.

And more besides. He growls at me and stalks me. I drop my top and let him come to me. I am desperate to have him inside me, to reunite our bodies in the way in which we are supposed to.

He reaches me, turning me around so that he can shove me up against the wall. I gasp in surprise at his roughness, but then I moan out loud as he presses his body into me and places his strong hand around my throat.

He doesn’t say anything as he un-snaps my bra with one hand and it falls forward. I shake it off and it drops to the floor.

“Take me,” I whimper as he sends a trail of blazing heat down my back with his hand. “I need you.”

He remains silent.

“I love you, Draven, please take me. Release your frustrations out on me. I want you,” I beg him. “Hurt me. I know you want to.”

He breathes in deeply and audibly. “No,” he says to me quietly. “You are carrying my child. I will not hurt you.”

I feel a surging relief that he accepts the child is his.

He cups his hand over my still flat stomach with a sigh, and then he pulls back. “We should get ready.”

He moves to the other side of the room and I growl at him now. He is not getting away with this denial of me. We need each other right now, whether he knows it or not.

I launch myself at him, slamming him down to the floor to his surprise.

“Agh!” he cries out, his face in the carpet. I spin him around quickly and straddle him.

“Take me!” I demand. “I need to feel your cock inside me. I need to know that this is real and not some dream that I will wake up from!”

He roars at me and flips us over so that I am on my back. “You betrayed me!” he yells in my face.
