The results from the DEA came quickly. Their surveillance had picked up on a rental car going to one of the remittance sights they were watching. This wouldn’t have been a big deal except for the fact that the driver who was identified through the car rental agency was showing up once a week for the past three months. As it turned out, this guy was the passenger in the Mississippi arrest. He got around.

That Friday, there was another pickup at a remittance store the DEA was watching. The delivery guy was arrested getting out of his car. He was carrying a small grocery bag containing $35,000 in bundled cash. The same college student was quickly brought in for an interview. He was in deep trouble and decided to cooperate.

Special Agent Trung was notified of the arrest and called Matt to advise him of the situation. “I don’t know if this is good or bad. The timing, I mean. This guy doesn’t want to do a whole lot of time so he is cooperating. The agents are keeping him under the radar for now. Matt, the guy has identified your players in Ottawa and others. He is making pickups and deliveries every week. He goes to different cities by car, bus or midnight Amtrak, makes the collections and then completes the deliveries. I think the fact that he was picked up might stir the pot a bit.”

Matt thanked DEA Agent Trung for the heads-up. Matt thought this Monday morning meeting was definitely going to be decision time for someone. He started working on the new information.
