THE PIER IS PACKED, and I can't even count on my hands and toes the amount of men Iâve wanted to stab already for looking at me like they wanted to fuck me, right then and there. I'm tempted to take them to the top of the Ferris wheel and watch them dangle over the side as they scream like little bitches. Why do men have to be such fucking perverts? I mean, I'm not even dressed suggestively, not that it would matter if I was, still doesn't give men the right to be pigs. I'm wearing jean shorts and a Mariana Trench band tee. Everyone at the club teases me about that one, but fuck them, that band is amazing! And I will continue to blast their songs as I get the club ready each day.
Evie, however, looks gorgeous. She's in an emerald-green crop top with her black bikini top underneath and a pair of jean shorts. Her long, red hair is pulled into a high, messy bun. My bestie is a bombshell.
âWhat do you wanna do first?â she asks me.
âHow about a few rides, then something to eat?â
âSounds good to me.â
We head to the merry-go-round and get dirty looks from the kids as we cut in line. I slip the young man who is operating the ride a 20 and stick my tongue out at the snot nose punk who had the nerve to say, âHey lady, youâre too old for this ride.â Fuck that shit. Iâm never too old for anything. Evie gapes at me, then smiles as she shakes her head with a chuckle.
Pulling her along, we find a couple of horses as the ride begins. We never let go of each other's hands, holding each other with one and with the other, we cling to our horses the whole ride, laughing and being carefree for once. Sometimes I forget that at the end of the day, Iâm a 26-year-old woman. I never had the chance to be a kid. My whole life was pain and misery. Evie has always been my saving grace amongst the demons in the pits of Hell that was my life. Without her keeping me tethered to reality, I would have gotten lost to my beast years ago.
After that, we make our way to the arcade, and I end up spending a half hour playing Whack-a-mole, competing with a ten-year-old boy while Evie just stands there watching in amusement. His mother is gonna need Botox for that resting bitch face she has going on. If she scowls any harder, her face is gonna be permanently stuck that way.
I won by default because she ended up forcibly dragging him away. Evie convinces me itâs time for some food a little while after, but I think she just wanted to leave because I kept kicking her ass at Dance Dance Revolution. Not my fault, I dance more often than she does. The look I gave her when I accused her of this, along with her saying that she was letting me win, made her almost piss her pants laughing.
