This discussion of ignorance is not intended to generate this monolithic construct of ignorance that will or can be cured with a good dose of reliable knowledge exercised by intrepid humans, but is rather intended to focus on how these very particular ignorances, surrounding race and crime, or related to whiteness, heteronormativity, and education, shift and are recast in new socioeconomic contexts, and actively “correspond to particular knowledges and circulate as part of particular regimes of truth” (Sedgwick, 1990, 8).
