Eric

“If you ever loved me, you won't do something like this ever again” Lana's words felt like a slap on my face. If you ever loved me.... Those were the same words that I wrote down on the note asking her to divorce me if she ever loved me. My heart clenched at those words. I saw her walking away from me and the worst part was I couldn't stop her. I couldn't make her stay because I have lost her a long time back. Fresh tears fall down my eyes, sitting in the hospital room, I realized how alone I have become ever since she left. People were there around me, but I always felt so lonely and alone. No one could fill in the loneliness and the love that once she did.

The kiss we shared was a pure bliss for me. I wanted to remember the sweet taste of her lips forever. The way her lips responded to mine made me feel that I have reached heaven. I wanted to burn down in the love that we once shared. That burning pleasure of her lips against mine to consume me and wanted it to never let me go. I want to let her love consume me once again, but I know that I have lost everything. I have lost the right to claim any part of her love because I made it turn into hatred myself. I never deserved a woman like her.

“Eric. Why are you crying?” I didn't see Marie coming inside the room, I was so indulged in myself pity that I didn't care about my surroundings at all.

“I made a mistake Marie, I made the biggest mistake of my life” Tears kept on falling and I didn't feel like wiping them away. Those were my tears of my guilt and mistake.

“Eric what are you talking about, Please stop crying” Marie came and sat beside me.

“I can't Marie, I made the biggest mistake in the life. I destroyed her and me, and us. I’m the one to be blamed for letting her go away, for her every suffering, for the death of my own son. I’m to be blamed for everything Marie. I didn't believe Lana, I didn't even give her a second to explain anything. I didn't care about her at all, I took away everything from her and left her on the streets to suffer. I became a monster for her Marie. I killed my own son, I made my own wife and love suffer Marie, I’m a monster Marie a MONSTER!!!!”“ I was sobbing and heaving. I was a monster, A Monster.

“Eric no, don't say these things,” She said while wiping my tears away. “Don't say things like these Eric, I know you made the mistake we all did, but we all were fooled Eric we all were. You are not a monster Eric. You are not.” Tears wield even in her eyes, I know she was hurting me because she was like a sister to her, a best friend and I broke them away.
