Chapter Eleven

High Priority Processing

FIFTEEN MINUTES LATER we were interrupted by a tiny curious cat. Emily pulled back. “Alex, I can’t kiss you with your cat between us.”

Despite her protest I noticed Emily scratching behind Anna’s ears. I took a long enough break to grab Anna and shut her securely into the large storage pantry with the promise of extra playtime the next day. When I returned we continued where we’d left off, only Emily guided us down to lay on our sides facing each other on the couch. It made my left arm fairly useless but I was at least able to explore her back and sides with my right hand. The feel of her skin and curves was as intoxicating as her kisses.

We kissed for nearly an hour like that until Emily was panting into my mouth and I could feel the lub-dub of my heart beating fast in my own chest. Each minute it went on left me sensitized and increasingly aroused.

At some point Emily maneuvered herself so she was above me on the couch. My thoughts glitched when her leg pressed against the seam of my dress pants, and I made a noise I wasn’t expecting. Something between a groan and a whine echoed up my throat into my nasal passage as incredible pleasure emanated from between my legs. I lifted my lower half to meet the press of her thigh more fully and another sound came, needy and wanting. While wonderful, the experience was unfamiliar, overwhelming, and a little frightening. I pulled back from her mouth and held her shoulders firmly so Emily couldn’t pursue my lips. “Wait.” I was embarrassed and the word came out as a whisper.

Though quiet, Emily still heard me and froze, then quickly rolled back to her original position next to me. “Shit, Alex, I’m sorry.” She blew out a breath and draped her hand over her eyes, the same one that had been clutching at my side moments before. “We got kind of carried away, didn’t we?”

“Maybe we didn’t and I’m simply too broken to connect properly.”

Emily immediately moved her hand and turned my face so I could meet her gaze. “Alex, no. You are not too broken.” She waited a moment then spoke again. “Can you tell me why you stopped? Were you uncomfortable, or—”

“It was amazing! You are amazing and I’ve never felt—well I guess I have but I don’t ever remember feeling so much pleasure at once. It was too much, I think…and it frightened me.” I grew frustrated at my actions. “Fear is a foolish emotion.”

“Fear is a form of emotional energy. It’s essential and it keeps us from being reckless. Fear warns us to be safe and leery of things that could harm us.”

I tilted my head into the caress of Emily’s hand where she skimmed her fingertips along my cheek and neck. I reveled in the ticklish touch. “What purpose does it serve here and now? You’re completely safe and I’m in no danger in my own home.
