Why Collaboration Hubs Can Disappoint

Chapter 3 listed the manifold benefits that organizations can realize by adopting powerful collaboration hubs. Indeed, they can quickly and dramatically improve how teams communicate and collaborate—especially remotely. Over a long-enough period of time, they can help increase transparency and transform cultures. In Chapter 7, I showed you how to select one.

A + B = C, right?

If only it were that easy.

Enabling collaboration technologies is not all puppy dogs and ice cream. In this vein, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and other collaboration hubs share many similarities with other enterprise technologies:

Sometimes an organization takes a step backward before taking a giant leap forward.

Internal adoption may not be universal and evenly distributed, especially at large outfits.

Sometimes the tool fails to take root in the organization altogether.
