Truly fabulous, relaxing wine hotel in an eighteenth-century manor house on one of the most beautiful of Douro estates. Views over the vineyards and orchards to the river are stupendous, not least from the infinity pool, while country-chic rooms mix antique carved beds, polished floors and woven rugs with sharply styled, granite bathrooms containing select toiletries. It’s a lovely, secluded space, offering its own vineyard tours and cellar tastings, plus bike and hiking trails, while meals are served outside under a century-old vine canopy. It’s a 15min drive from Pinhão, or they can pick you up from Ferrão station at the bottom of the hill. €230
