I have taken Nikki to work for the last two weeks and picked her and Reanna up. We haven’t been able to locate Vic or his thugs yet, and I don’t want Nikki going anywhere without me, Slyde or Beamer with her. She tried to protest but I wouldn’t hear it. She relented. Nikki and Hart have pretty much taken over most of the business, Beamer has insisted that Leia work from home since she is so close to her due date, and even then, he doesn’t want her doing too much. Beamer and I are headed out to the shooting range, when his phone rings. He smiles and answers.

“Hey Love……Leia, what’s wrong?” He asks panicked and I can hear her scream through the phone. SHIT! She’s in labor. I jump in the truck start it and lean over to throw open the passenger door. “You’re in labor?” He asks spinning and finding me, I wave him into the truck. He barely closes the door, before I’m racing out of the parking lot. I can hear Leia through the phone, moaning and screaming from the pain. I can feel a bit of panic race through me; Beamer, however, is calm. He keeps talking to her in a very calm and controlled voice. I’m not sure how much she is hearing, but he keeps talking all them same.

Within ten minutes I’m pulling into their driveway, Beamer jumps out before the truck is even stopped and goes racing into the house. I’m not far behind him. We find her in their bedroom, with her hands on the bed leaning forward and rocking her hips as she works through another contraction.

“Hey Love,” Beamer states softly. She pants and turns to him as the contraction fades away and her body relaxes some. “Want to sit?” he asks.

“No, this is the only position that makes this bearable,” Leia replies back

“Leia, how long have you been having contractions, Sweetheart?” I ask, concerned that she has either been in labor a while and didn’t call or that this is happening really fast.

“These kind, not long. I woke up this morning with back pain, but that’s nothing new. I did a few things around the house, did some work, my back was starting to hurt worse, so I took a hot shower which seemed to help a lot. I decided to take a nap and woke up having to go to the bathroom; that’s when my water broke. I felt her drop and these contractions started out painful and got worse, longer, and closer together.”

“Sounds like your back pain were contractions,” I state. Totally the wrong thing to say to a woman in labor.

“No shit, Sherlock. Fuck!” Leia groans, as she leans against Bryce, who doesn’t even hesitate to support her. I stand silently watching my sister lean on him, knowing that he will give her the strength she needs, even though, at this moment, she is in pain. I’m so happy she has this.

“You should have called me earlier, Love, we could have gone to the hospital,” I hear Beamer tell her.
