Immediately concerned for him, Fiona came toward Hunter and put her hand on his arm. Looking up at him in sympathy, she asked, “How long were you captured?”

“Not nearly as long as I think you were, Fee, but long enough.”

“I’m sorry, Hunter.”

“I didn’t tell you that for your sympathy, but thank you, Fee. My point was, I think you’re going to feel hungry for a while, even if you’re full right after you eat, twenty minutes later you’ll be hungry again. It’s your body’s way of healing. You’ll be better off eating several small meals a day than stuffing yourself with one or two. Just take it easy, your body will tell you when you’re done.”

Stepping back a foot, Fiona was finding it hard to think straight around Hunter, she nodded at his words. “I’m sure you’re right. I’ve always been a snacker, so it’ll be nice to have a reason to snack now.”

“Ready to go down?”

At her nod, Cookie took Fiona’s hand and they made their way out of the bedroom silently. Cookie held on tight. Everything he’d said to her was what he felt from the heart, but he’d never opened up to any woman like that before. He wanted Fiona. There wasn’t one thing about her that turned him off. Not one. If he had anything to say about it, she was his. His. He now understood what Wolf and Abe felt about their women. There was something inside him that knew she was meant to be his. He’d have to apologize to both of his teammates for even thinking they were crazy to tie themselves to a woman as quickly as they had to Caroline and Alabama.

Cookie knew he had a ways to go before he’d be able to officially claim Fiona as his. They had a lot to work through, there was a lot he didn’t know about her, but at the end of the day, he’d fight to make her his. Forever. She didn’t know it, but her life had just changed, hopefully for the better.
