Chapter Twelve

Battle

How big is this building? Mina asked herself for the tenth time in the past five minutes. The warehouse was huge with few doors. She counted three in total plus a giant double door that could fit a small crane. Walking around the warehouse a couple of times, she finally decided to go through a smaller door next to the huge front one. It was pitch black inside and smelled like mould. She turned on her pocket flashlight. The small light illuminated the room enough to see by. The floor had cracked cement along the walls where there were several large boxes and crates. The opposite wall was also constructed of cement. Everything was still and quiet.

She reached the other side and still saw no one. Is this even the right warehouse? The wall was as blank as the rest of the warehouse. She walked across it several times looking for a hidden door. The small front door opened. Mina quickly turned her flashlight off and stood as still as possible. Because of the pitch darkness, no one could be seen. When she was about to light her flashlight on again, several blue lights could be seen floating towards her. She watched them approach her. Soon she could make out the lights as glowing hands. The owners of the hands all wore black and only their eyes showed. The cloaked figure to the right of the one in front spoke up.

“I think we have almost the complete set, my lord.”

“Yes, indeed, we do. We just have to find that girl. She is the key to turning him to our side. If by chance the rest escape I don’t care if you kill them, but I want that girl alive. Understood?”

“Yes, my lord,” the other three replied.

The leader walked up to the wall and touched it with his left non-glowing hand. An emerald doorway appeared and the cement in the shape of a doorway slowly dissolved. The doorway radiated with dark cold energy. Behind the cement was a passageway lit only with torches. The cultists went in and the arch slowly disappeared and the cement reformed. Mina stood there, open-mouthed. What was that? It took her some time to get over the magic. She walked up to the same place where the cultists had stood. She extended her left hand toward the cement. The wall felt cold against her skin. She waited at first but nothing happened. She was about to give up when the same emerald doorway appeared only hers radiated white warm light. The wall melted away and she entered. The magical doorway closed behind her leaving her in the torch-lit passage. Who’s the girl that they are looking for? Could it be me?

The passage twisted and turned as she walked down it. She wanted to run but fear of being caught prevented her. After what seemed like an age, she reached the end. The end was a blank wall, the same as the entrance. She reached out and touched the wall.
