Introduction

For those of us who are interested in preserving food in or close to our own homes, there are two options that tend to work better than any other. Root cellars provide a damp, cool and ventilated area for your fresh produce. The problem here is that even in the best conditions fresh produce only lasts so long.

The other option is to go with a food storage room. These rooms can often appear similar to root cellars, but are dry and largely sealed in order to ensure that stored food isn’t tainted in any way through the storage process.
