If the techniques being taught in self defense are not tested in actual combat situations, then they are truthfully not proven. If the teachers who are claiming to teach such self defense ways have no real experience in the ways of true combat, then the techniques they are teaching are empty. Even if a technique does work, if the teacher has no real experience then they cannot present the technique with any truth or reality. This means that the student will not be able to gain proper methodology or even get correct answers to detailed questions about the techniques being taught. Thus the technique will be presented in an incorrect way because details that can only be learned in combat situations cannot be taught with the technique.
